The Stolen 58's and their new live album "Live at the Press" The Stolen 58's are a classy group of fine musicians.  They are based in Southern California and their new LIVE album was recorded in Claremont.  Have a listen to their sound and dig their vibe:  Claremont California known for its strong arts and music culture is on point with the newest release of the  Stolen 58's live from the press.   This energetic band Led by front-man Jerry O'Sullivan shows you what a  good time at "the press" venue feels like. Kudos to Jeff Masters on harmonica/vox, Jerry O'Sullivan on  Guitar/vox, and Steve Chizar on drums.  for reminding us what it means to catch a fun live show of organic homegrown Americana music! We here at alternative grass just finished listening to the entire new album on CD. The album feels like a show and as I listened I felt as though I was with the band at a local dive bar.  If you like what you hear above, go ahead and check the al

This bird has flown- another lyric video of the same song

Why does Water Tower keep making new content based around the same song? Cuz its fun.  The other reason is that when the band gets back on the road, they are hoping that the fans will be  able to sing along loud and proud. This video premieres at 12:00 PM PDT "This Bird has Flown" is a lyric stolen from The Beatles. They sing about that in "Norwegian Wood". This band clearly ripped off The Beatles.

bluegrass "Riptide" at the saloon

Image
Bluegrass "Riptide" at the saloon Water Tower decided to take a drive out to the old desert. Sometimes the speed of life in LA gets to be all too much for these boys. So they get together in the privacy of their own desert saloon in order to share music with YOU. Here they cover the famous Vance Joy song, "Riptide".  Did you enjoy this cover? It was taken out of live performance that the boys did last week.  Catch the FULL performance on FB.  The raffle that was run in the description is no longer running, BUT the boys run many raffles. Congratulations to the first place winner Megan Billups.  Second place to be announced soon.  They did not plan to play this song, that is why Kenny is delighted at the start when both Tommy Fingers  and he start playing the song at the same time. BarJayBar aka "Juice" is the man on bass.  Little moments of pleasure and glee are what make life special.

"Fromage"- Water Tower (8mm version)

Image
"Fromage"- the lyric video about cheese.  Apparently the only thing we learned how to say whilst on tour in France was "I would like a cheese sandwich please". IF you would like to learn the french translation of that, watch and learn: I wrote this song about watching a friend go through some personal issues.  I decided I never wanted to write a song this complex again. The chords are strange towards the end of each verse, and it takes a few minutes to teach someone how to play it.  I prefer to write songs now that are easy for anyone to play along with.  Check out our Instagram   or  Facebook .

The Anthem to the La River!

The Anthem to the La River! Water Tower has given Alternative Grass another video to release. This time they are playing a song called "Anthem" that was made famous by animator/director Rodd Perry in his animated short for the song, which has now been nominated for four separate film festival awards . The animated short film has received critical acclaim from famous blogs and magazines such as BrooklynVegan , Alternative Press , Medium , Video Static, SooShee Sessions  (starts at 15:19), Rattler and many others.  Mr. Rodd Perry is also famous for a show called The Brother Mike Tapes.   The show is actual recorded conversations of a boy and his parents growing up, set to hilarious, poignant and deeply nuanced animated characters. More on that tomorrow.  Now in the animated video the singer is Ron Reyes one of the original singers of the seminal LA punk band, Black Flag.   Catch Kenny Feinstein singing the song in the version we have below.  This video is set to release a
