The Anthem to the La River!

The Anthem to the La River!

Water Tower has given Alternative Grass another video to release.

This time they are playing a song called "Anthem" that was made famous by animator/director Rodd Perry in his animated short for the song, which has now been nominated for four separate film festival awards.

The animated short film has received critical acclaim from famous blogs and magazines such as BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Medium, Video Static, SooShee Sessions (starts at 15:19), Rattler and many others.

Mr. Rodd Perry is also famous for a show called The Brother Mike Tapes.  The show is actual recorded conversations of a boy and his parents growing up, set to hilarious, poignant and deeply nuanced animated characters. More on that tomorrow.

Now in the animated video the singer is Ron Reyes one of the original singers of the seminal LA punk band, Black Flag.

Catch Kenny Feinstein singing the song in the version we have below.

This video is set to release at 12 PM PDT, so be sure and catch that on YouTube.

What are your favorite moments?

I like when Juice (bass player aka Bar Jay Bar and also in band Baxter//Elkins) does the rockstar point to the crowd.

The banjo solo by the young banjo player Tommy Fingers is stunning also.

Even though the crow is non-existent.

Minus ofcourse the band manager, Joanne Ledesma
