Lou McMahon and her haunting soulful voice!

I love the sultry and powerful sound of Lou's voice.

Her brand new song "Wide Eyed Lady" is the perfect halloween music video.

Have you seen it yet? If not, make sure and watch it right now, so that the rest of this article makes sense...

Joanne Ledesma of MusicBizGal blog turned me on to this amazing artist and told me that Lou is being heralded as the "Irish Billie Eilish".

"Wide Eyed Lady is a song written by Lou McMahon, it is a remixed and remastered version of the track from her debut EP recorded in 2008, showcasing Lou McMahons voice and songwriting at age 22. Wide Eyed Lady was never officially released as a single, though it featured on an award winning compilation album in 2014 - Ultimate Guide To Irish Folk and it received National and local airplay. Lou feels that she owes it to her younger self to make music videos for the tracks on her debut EP that mark her gateway into the music industry in the run up to revealing a new and more mature Lou McMahon sound in 2021. Lou says "Being a young girl, naive and stupid, I had these recordings, these pieces of my heart and mind, and I had no idea what to do with them." Wide Eyed Lady tells a dark folk tale about a young girl named Heather who toys with necromancy to her own demise. Inspired by youth and naivety, and a real story from Lou's teenage years where she was saddened to watch a fellow alumni succumb to the dark forces of addiction due to running with the wrong crowd. It also highlights the beginning of an unwarranted anxiety disorder that Lou struggles with, as noted by Bernard Clarke, on The Blue of the Night radio show RTE Lyric fm "the song moves from panic to empathy". Thematically this piece explores the darkness in an emotional minor key, the concepts are woven together by Lous penchant for the eery in a storytelling style similar to dark Irish myths, tales and folklore. Timothy Monger of all music.com describes Lou as "pop oriented" and "one of the genres better contemporary acts". " -Taken from the YouTube video.
